Girl Has Got Skills!

Baseball : Carter as Soccer : Laura Beth

Laura Beth loves soccer.  She has always loved soccer.  On Saturday she played her first game on the bigger field.  She also played striker.  I was amazed.
She handled that ball like she had been doing it all her life.  She passed, she dribbled, she scored - twice!
I continue to be amazed at my children.

Mom, stop taking my picture!
Seriously, stop, Mom!

I am sure that this move is illegal, but it was a great one!
She kicked the ball out of the girl's way!
After the game, the coaches got a water cooler shower!
Yay, Coach Jenny and Coach Vicky!

Soccer is Here!!!

Well, baseball ended and the very next week soccer practice began.  Carter likes soccer; Laura Beth loves soccer.  The first games were August 14 - temperature 100+ degrees - heat index 114 and that was at 9:00 in the morning.  Needless to say it was a tad hot! Carter did very well despite the heat.  He did leave the game early with a headache - go figure!

His first goal of the season!
We laughed because this was how he stayed most of the day.
However, he would just pick himself up and go back at it!

Laura Beth's game was suppose to be played at 12:30 but, thank goodness, it was cancelled because of the heat! So until next week . . . . .

School Days . . . School Days . . . .

I can't believe it is August 3rd and we are going for our first day of school! Crazy!  It is super hot and too early to be heading out, but here we go! I love first day of school pics although this year they make me feel very old!  I can't believe how old the kids are getting (but I am not)!!

Carter and Mrs. Rogers are going to get along great! She loves baseball and the Braves! We are going to have a wonderful year!
LB was actually sick the first day of school and, with it just being a half day, I told her to stay home and get better!! These were of her first day of school - the first full day of the new year! She is so blessed to have Mrs. Dee again this year with the whole group she was with last year.  I am trying to not to think about this being her last year at East Chester. We are just going to love this year each day while we are still here!

Showering Walker with More . . . . .

I am so ready for Walker to get here.  The kids and I, along with Mom and Dad, made another trip to Alabama to get ready for Mr. Walker's arrival!  It was a wonderful trip and it has been decided that Mr. Walker is one blessed little boy already!

Seeing all the family on the quilt - each family made a square with
their names on it, so Walker can be wrapped in all of our love!

More and more presents!

Can't wait to meet you! Next time we will be in Alabama it will be to meet you, Mr. Walker!

A Day at the Zoo

Before school started back, we took the kids and good friends for a day at the zoo.  We all had a wonderful day!
As soon as we walked into the park, the kids spotted this snake - what is it with us and snakes this summer?  I was able to use my good zoom on the camera to get this close!!!!
Friends Tucker, Carter, Lilly, Evan, LB and Madlyn ready for a day at the zoo!
The newest attraction at the zoo - Old Faithful!
Going through Yosemite Park
Loved getting close to the giraffes!
The bird house was a HUGE hit!  Everyone had multiple birds on their feeding sticks -
well worth the dollar!

LB loves her horses!
These two crazy wonderful girls!
Taking a dip in the fountain before we went home!

We all had a wonderful day - what a great way to begin ending the summer!

National Laura Beth Day

Laura Beth has been a trooper this summer going to game after game of Carter's.  So,when his team was put out of the state tournament.  I told her that the next day was "Laura Beth Welch Day."  She could choose - within reason - the day's activities. She began the day waking up at Gran and Grandad Willis' house with all 4 of her grandparents there!!  Then went to Miller's for chocolate doughnuts - which she so generously shared with the rest of us!  She announced later in the morning that she wanted to go eat lunch at Hagy's and then go back to Shiloh (yes, we had just been there 3 days ago) to hear the cannons being fired.  So, we loaded up and off we went!

Again at the Hornet's Nest -
Down from this monument was a Minnesota monument.
Carter looked at me and said, "I did not know the Twins fought at Shiloh!"
He also declared that the Hornet's Nest was big enough to place a baseball field.
Always thinking of baseball!
Showing Mama C where the copperhead snake was the other day.
It was not here today!
We found the Texas monument!!!
Happy Laura Beth Day, LB!
We love you!

We had a great day! Thank you, LB, for always being such a wonderful fan of your brother!!!
