Laura Beth's Lads to Leaders Speech

Laura Beth and Kennedy are ready for their speech
If your mom said she would take you to California, would you believe her? She might make you wait first. You may have to pack for the trip, and then drive all the way there. Sometimes that is not very fun but you have to do it. Once you get to California you have a great time. The wait was worth it!
God tells us in the Bible He is going to take us to a better place - Heaven. Even thought we aren't going today, doesn't mean we aren't going. We have to wait on God. Sometimes our wait on earth is not fun but having faith in God helps us wait.
What is faith? Faith is trusting in God to do what He says. How do we know what He says? We read the Bible and believe His word. We can believe what He says because God does not lie.
In Hebrews chapter 11, we are reminded that Abraham had faith in God. God told Abraham to move. Abraham didn't know where he was going, but he went. He had faith in God. Then God said Abraham would have children. He was so old he was almost dead. Abraham had faith and his children are as many as the stars.
Having faith in God can be difficult at times. Along our way, we can put our faith in God by praying because we know He is listening. We can obey Him because we trust Him. We can see the friends and family He puts in our lives to be with us. We can completely depend on Him to keep His promises. The trip may be long and tough but when you get to the end - Heaven will be worth it all!

I Just Can't Help Myself

Each year when we go to Lads to Leaders, I can't resist taking pictures of my kids in the beautiful surroundings. I just can't help myself!

Laura Beth Flies a Kite

Laura Beth had a much better time at kite day than Carter did. She was able to get and keep her kite up for most of the time. She was in her element - running in a big open field. It does not get much better than that for her.

She did finally stop to take a ride with some of her friends. I love these pictures showing the kids' excitement!

Carter's First Kite Day

Carter was so excited about his first kite day at school. However, bless his heart, he had some MAJOR problems getting his kite into the air. Luckily for us, Damon was able to come and help during his part of the day. I was able to run around helping other kids and taking pictures. He was not very happy about his kite not flying.
When asked if he enjoyed kite day, he said, "No!" However, he did enjoy playing on the playground afterwards - especially the monkey bars which are his favorite!
Oh well, maybe next year!

Back At It

Baseball season is already in full swing with our family and Carter is not even playing right now! He is getting to be bat boy for the FHU Lions' JV team and is loving it! I remembered to bring my cammera - FINALLY - to a game to catch these precious moments!

Hunter greets him in the dugout after getting a bat.
They have their own special handshake - this is the end.

Carter's Dream Ride

Nicole came by yesterday to see us. Since her mom is on a cruise this week, she got the car!! We went out to see her new ride and Carter fell in love! He looked at it and declared, "I want a car like this!" Nicole gave him a quick ride around the circle in it and he was hooked!
As you can tell, he was so excited!

Census 2010

My friend, Melissa, had a great idea when the Census came in the mail and I took it running! I talked to the kids about what this was and the importance of it. Then, I had them help me to fill it out and then placed it in the mail!
As we do family history, we get census reports and I thought it would just be a neat idea to have the kids holding the census to see what they looked like for their first because when the next one rolls around they will be 18 and 16!!! I don't even want to think about that right now!
