The girls met for their last book club of the calendar year at Rachel Grace's home. RG's grandaddy had lived in Japan - the setting of our book selection - and had come to cook us authentic Japanese food!! It was amazing! I am getting ahead of myself. . . . The book we had read was Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. It was about a little girl who lived through the atom bomb and came down with leukemia from the after affect. We had read the book and the girls collected toys for St. Jude Children's Hospital as a service project for this book. The girls did a fabulous job collecting wonderful toys for the children there. The quality of picture is not good - had to use my camera phone! This was the first meeting where we were all not there. We missed those who could not come, but had a wonderful time!
RG's grandaddy talked to the girls about Japan - the food, language and culture - as he fixed the meal for us! The girls were so respectful as he talked.

For dessert, LB and I made dessert Sushi. It was a HUGE hit and super easy to make. We took rice krispie treats and cut them into smaller pieces. Then we put Swedish Fish on top of the rice krispie treat. We cut fruit roll ups into thin strips and wrapped them around the fish and treat. Super easy and super good!!!
