Yes, I did threaten to sing that VERY loudly when we woke up in the hotel and made our way to downtown Baltimore that morning. However, no one else was really up for me doing that except Carter - which really showed that it was not a good idea!!
We used to live not far from Baltimore and I am sad to say we never really went down there. It is a great city! We LOVED being there and could have spent some more time there. However, we made the best of our time and tried to get in as much as we could.
We started the day at Fort McHenry - the home of the Star Spangled Banner. It was great! The kids were able to do the Junior Ranger program while we were there which made us look for and find things we would have not normally done.
Carter found the Civil War prison and it was tempting to keep him there! |
LB found the bomb shelter |
These three got a little wet at the second dolphin show we went to. Make no mind of Carter's face - he LOVED it! |
The USS Constellation - the only remaining working Civil War ship |
Then, we made our way to Camden Yards to spend the rest of the night with the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees. Carter had to have his picture taken with every retired number there was!
You know we love us some Jackie Robinson! |
and Cal Ripken, Jr. . . . |
I even love Cal Photo by Carter |
Brooks Robinson . . . |
Babe Ruth - whose birthplace is not far from Camden Yards |
We took in batting practice and hoped for a foul ball to come our way and it did thanks to a Yankee!
Then we got to meet Boone Logan who use to play for the Atlanta Braves. He was super super nice!
CC Sabathia came our way and LB declared him a VERY big man!!!!
Chris Davis - Carter is the proud owner of his jersey |
Carter started wearing his rally cap and it worked! The game went into extra innings!! |
Here we all are at the game! My mom, dad and I saw this stadium being built when we lived in Maryland. We went to church with one of the architects and he took us around the stadium before it was handed over to the Orioles. So, this was a very special picture for us.
Tomorrow we say so long to Baltimore and HELLO Washington DC!!!!
