I guess it is a southern wedding tradition but it is one of my favorites.
I remember my own and loved that special time I was able to spend with my dearest friends
right before the big day arrived.
When Jessica got engaged, Mom and I knew we wanted to do something like this for her.
We asked Mrs. Laurel Sewell to assist us with it and I believe Jessica's Bridesmaids' Luncheon
turned out lovely.
We decided to host the event on Thursday morning before the wedding on Friday at the
historic Hardeman House on the campus of FHU.
We ate on the back porch where white rod iron tables were graced with burlap tablecloths,
different place settings of china, tea glasses and a tea pot with pink rose buds in the middle.
Each guest had a name card in the shape of a wedding dress to add to their place setting.
The Menu:
Banana Punch
Various coffees and teas
Traditional Breakfast Casserole
Egg Casserole
Ham and Swiss Sliders
Blueberry Muffins
Zucchini Bread
Banana Nut Bread
Strawberry, Orange Honey and Regular Butter
Fruit Salsa
Once everyone was finished eating, each guest found a word inside their name card.
From this word, each guest stood and gave a blessing on the new couple.
Some of the words included were: memories, service, work, empathy, family, friends, courage, time,
days, wisdom, influence and peace.

Mrs. Donna, Jessica's mom, giving her blessing. |
Anna Catherine giving hers. |
Then, we made our way to the parlor for pictures.

I am so glad we were able to honor Jessica this way.
Now it is time to get that church looking like a wedding is going to take place!
