Basketball Season 2014 Begins

Basketball season at the junior high has begun and we are loving watching LB play.
She has come a long way for never playing basketball until last year.
She has even seen a little time on varsity.

One thing we love about basketball season is getting to hang out with Elam and Erby Anne.
Coach Murphy's wife is my partner teacher at school, and our kids ADORE each other.

Braces ON!!!!

The beginning of November brought a change for LB - BRACES!!!
She went to school looking like this -

and came to me after school looking like this -

Now we are off to her first JV basketball game of the season.
Yes, Damon has already gotten on to me for scheduling her appointment to get her
braces on for this day.  What was I thinking?

Walk 4 Water

We were so excited to be able to help raise money for a well to be dug in Haiti this year.
The average person in a third world country walks 4 miles each day to get clean water.
So we walked that walk for them today in order to bring a well closer to them.
Happy to say we raised enough money to build a well in Haiti so they can have clean water a lot closer.
This was a first for our congregation and we enjoyed being together as a family and with friends.
LB helped to paint faces of the kids that were there.

Addie declared she was going to stay with us during the walk and she did.
She walked/ran the whole 4 miles with LB (and I was close by).

These 3 ran almost the entire 4 miles = crazy!!!

Trick or Trunk Time

Trick or Trunk at church is always a night we enjoy.
This year we thought we would be at a basketball game but the team we were suppose to play got scared and backed out!
We were pretty pumped we would get to come but had no costumes, so LB suggested we all dress like Alabama football players.  Damon could be Nick Saban!
When the almost 13 year old suggests we dress as a family - you dress as a family!

BFFs
Since the basketball game was cancelled, we invited Coach Murphy and Kim to bring Elam and Erby Anne.  The kids were thrilled that they came!

LB loves all the kids at church and they love her!

Pumpkin Carving 2014

We have always enjoyed carving pumpkins with our college kids.  Some years it works out and some years it doesn't.  This year we were able to get them all together and Whitney was even in for the weekend!!  BONUS!!!
We enjoyed an afternoon of great food, carving, football and just being together!

Carter's typical position when carving pumpkins - WATCHING!

Watch Out!!!!! He is actually working on a pumpkin!!!!

We always enjoy anytime we get to be together with our kiddos!

Book Club Bonfire

LB and her girls wanted to start back the book club we had done for so long.
When they hit junior high, it was a little difficult to get everyone together.
However, we decided to get it back going every other month.
For October, we read the book Stranded whose co-author is the one and only Jeff Probst from Survivor.  The girls loved the book and enjoyed the ideas the book brought about living off the land.
In fact, many of them have gone on to read the next book in the series.
The Moore family invited everyone over for a bonfire night to discuss the book.
We had a wonderful time together and enjoyed just being together again.

Deep in the Heart of Texas: Taylor

After celebrating with Granny, we all headed out to the homestead.
LB and Carter loved exploring the land and having fun with the new cousins they had met.
Granny enjoyed having family playing ball in the yard, sitting around the porch talking and watching football in the living room.
It really was a wonderful weekend deep in the heart of Texas.

Happy 90th Birthday, Granny!!!

The reason we even came to Texas was to celebrate Granny Welch's 90th birthday.
We laugh and say she will probably outlive us all and that is probably true!
We were so glad to be able to get together with family we hardly ever see, and the kids
loved getting to meet all their "new" cousins!
It really was a wonderful day!
