Third Place in District

For the first time in history, the CCJHS girls' soccer team made it to the district tournament.
They had to play TCA again in order to win third place in the district and they would have to do it on the road at JCS.

Each girl got introduced before the game....

 A prayer was said...

And a hard fought game began. I don't have many pictures from the game because I was a little overwhelmed by everything!  However, here's the shot when they realized they had won the game!

They always walk across the field together arm and arm after a game.

LB has been blessed in more than one way by playing soccer this year.
However the friends she has made are some of the biggest blessings of all.

Another Victory

Last year the CCJHS girls' soccer team was the first public school to ever beat all the private schools in Jackson.  They were pretty pumped about that feat!
We hit the ground running with one of those teams as our second game of the season.
That team came out firing at the beginning...

We want to pause this post for you all to see THE BOW in LB's hair!!!
I promise you she has not worn one since she was 5.
(That is NOT much of an exaggeration!)

We managed to pull out the victory
5-1 against TCA!!!

CCJHS Soccer Begins

Well school has been in session for a few weeks so that means it is time
for soccer season to begin!!!
LB took the #30 this year because with the new jerseys #9 was an extra large, and
let's be honest -
THAT. WILL. NOT. HAPPEN.
So we started the season vs Lexington like we did last year.
The big girls were back but we took them on anyways!

Going in for the goal!!!!

SCORE!!!!!!

We won 11-0!!!
Great start to the season!

CCJHS Eaglette Soccer 2013

LB had a great start to her junior high life as a member of the CCJHS Eaglette Soccer team.
As a 6th grader, we really didn't expect her to play a whole lot, but she saw action in many of the games this year.
As you will see from the pictures, she is QUITE a bit smaller than anyone else on the field.
However, that did not stop her from getting to the ball and playing hard.
Many of the parents started calling her "Little Bit" for "LB."
The team had an amazing season and we are proud of all they accomplished on and off the field!

LB's first goal as a junior high team member
After the goal after the game . . .
Hayley got to see the goal and rubbed it in Whitney's face!

At the beginning of the season, a high school senior that was on the soccer team as well as Coach Callis' cousin was killed in a car wreck.  They girls wore bands that said "Brodie" for each game and even wrote his name on their arms.  This picture was the first game after Brodie had been killed.

Lucy and Carter watching LB play!

Walker cheered so hard for LB at the game!

Even Alex got to come see LB play!

and Whitney made it to a game!

Great season, ladies! We are so proud of you!

Racing for Noah

The kids LOVE running 5Ks these days.  I really don't know where they get it. Both Damon and I really detest running.  However, they love it.

Recently, the CCHS soccer team had a 5K to help raise money for the team, but also for Baby Noah Judd.  Baby Noah was born VERY early.  He was due June 2 but came into this world on February 18 weighing 1lb. 3oz.  Needless to say, this little man has had a fight and fight he has!!!!  His daddy is the head soccer coach for CCHS and part of the money raised from this 5K went to the family to help with expenses.

The kids gladly put on their "Playing for Noah" shirts and ran the 5K proudly for him!
The kids were glad to see Evan there as well.

Carter's teacher, Mrs. Stacey, is the assistant soccer coach.
He wore his Cubs hat just for her because she is a Cardinals fan!

They are off - notice Carter out in front!!!!

With their medals for a great race.

Evan came in first in the boys' age group.  Carter was not too far behind him coming in second with a time of 23:53.  LB won first in the girls' age group with a time of 33:34.

I am NOT ready for Junior High!!!!

My oldest child will begin her junior high career this fall.
I am NOT old enough for this to be happening.
She is not old enough for this to be happening.
Where has time gone?
I have really tried not thinking about it, but this week I had to take her to the junior high because she was trying out for the junior high soccer team.  My little child (nothing big except her name) is trying out to play a sport she LOVES against girls who are 10xs bigger than she is!!!
It is killing me!  She, on the other hand, is LOVING it!

There she is in the orange - can't miss her, can you?

What kills me more now is that we had to wait to find out which incoming sixth graders would take the 5 slots and which would get 1 of the 4 manager positions.  I don't wait very well - especially when it involves my children!

All I have to say is THANK GOODNESS FOR TEXTING!!!! I got a text from a sweet dear friend who understands the waiting game and sent me a text as my students were leaving for the day.  The text read -

"LB made the team!!! Madlyn is a manager!"

Thank goodness they both made it in some way!  Can't wait to cheer on the Eaglettes this fall!!

Whitney's Senior Night

Damon and I missed Whitney's senior night at FHU's Josh Riley Soccer Complex, but Mom and Dad were great to take the kids (with posters in hand) to the game and even get a few pictures (thanks, Ms. Laurie as well)!  I can't believe Whitney is a senior and her time with us is almost gone.  We have been so blessed by all of our amazing college students! This one's for you, Whit!!!

Our seniors . . .
Thanks for everything!

We love you, #4!!!

How They Have Grown

Madlyn and LB - you really can't say one without the other . . .
Here is a picture from 2 years ago while they watched Carter play soccer.

Here they are this year watching Carter play soccer . . .

I can't believe how much they have grown.
I can't believe how old they are.
I can't believe how much they love playing the game,
but more importantly  . . .
how they love playing TOGETHER.
