A Pinterest Baby Shower

Just as the wedding shower was a huge hit, the baby shower was not to be outdone!  "You Are My Sunshine" is the theme of the nursery, so it was the perfect theme for the shower.
The gifts, too, were so unique to each person's abilities.  Baby Boy Lennox is due to come to Darryl and Chelsea around August 8.  We are all so excited from them and know they are going to be
amazing parents to this precious little baby! We wanted to show them how much we love them and are here for them.

I made a "Watch Me Grow" album.  It has each month (along with special holidays) for the first year for them
to put pictures in to see how he grows.
Allison made a teething necklace for Chelsea to wear.
Erin made this bucket full of personalized items.
Don't know why this is sideways, but Ashley made this monster coloring bag.
Inside she can put coloring books.
Keli made a changing pad (above) and rice bag (below).

Sherry made an Oscar hat for Lennox.
Hannah made felt numbers with beads in them.
Dana made this "I am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!" frame.
Bridget made these burp cloths.
You can see in this picture the "Shhh. . . Baby is Sleeping" sign Ashli made.
She is also in the process of finishing a blanket for Lennox.

We are so excited for Darryl and Chelsea as they prepare for Lennox's arrival.
We are also looking forward to more Pinterest Baby Showers coming up in the future as others are due in the next few months!

The Pinterest Wedding Shower

As mentioned in the previous post, my fellow Pinterest Partiers had a
"You Are My Sunshine" party for two of our members the other night.
Keli and Kevin have been married for almost two months now and we wanted to celebrate their special day with them Pinterest style!!!!  Everyone made something from Pinterest for the new bride and brought it with them to the party for her to open.  I loved seeing everyone's special talent shine through in their project.  It was so special.  For some reason, I don't have pictures of all the gifts, but you can go here to see all that was brought.

The menu board Hannah made.
The wreath Ashli made.

The drink dispenser I made.

The coffee cups Erin made.
The famous couples sign Dana made.

The sign Chelsea made.

The guest book Allison made.

The Verse of the Week plaque Ashley made.

The "I love you because . . . " frame Sherry made.
It really was one of the best nights we have ever had!!!!

You Are My Sunshine Pinterest Party

For our latest Pinterst party, we had a celebration!!!
Keli had recently gotten married and Chelsea is due with baby boy Lennox in about a month.
So we decided to have a Pinterest Wedding/Baby shower for them.

I volunteered to have it at my house and decided to go with a
"You Are My Sunshine" theme.
I felt like that matched both ideas.  Then, come to find out that is the theme of Lennox's nursery!
We added the blue to bring in a color from Keli's wedding!
It turned out just perfect!

I made the banner with the help of LB using my Plantin Schoolbook cartridge as well as Celebrations.

The blue Mason jars were a perfect touch for us to use as cups for the party.
Kristen brought homemade Cherry Limeade which was delicious!!!!
Our honorees dipping into the amazing food everyone brought!

Kristen had the brilliant idea of creating a Pinterest board for everyone to pin their ideas, so you can go here to see all the recipes and gift ideas (see the next posts).

We always have such a great time!! Come back to see posts on the gifts that were brought for the ladies!

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!

We were so blessed to be able to spend the 4th of July with Dustin, Rebecca, Johnathan and Addison in Nashville. We thought the rains would hold us off, but they moved out just in time for the show.

We had a great time and have decided that it really needs to be an annual thing to go there for the fireworks - and shopping at OpryMills the next day to take in the sales!!!!

Happy 4th of July, America!!!!

Remembering Those Who Made It Possible

Last year the kids and I started a new tradition that we just love!
We took small American flags and placed them on the graves of those who had fought for our country.
We know several and it is always a favorite time to walk through the cemetery as we
find different ones who served in our military.

The first place they went was Bro. Jess's grave.  He was Pop's best friend.

Our neighbor's husband . . .

My grandmother's (their great grandmother's) grave. . . . They wanted to put one
there because she was the wife of a veteran!

It really has become something we look forward to doing each year before the 4th of July.
I want the kids to realize the sacrifice of so many so we can live the lives we have today.

Pinterest Parties: How To

One of my followers had asked me to describe how we do our Pinterest Parties, so I am going to try to explain our thinking as we plan for a party.

WHY?

The Pinterest Partiers began because we wanted to be sure we DID the things we were pinning on our boards - crafts as well as food.

WHO?

We thought of friends who had the same need/addiction/desire/obsession to pin crafts and recipes.  One reason I love our group is because of the various ages we have - singles, newly married, in-betweeners, and almost empty nesters.  It is a great group of women (no man has joined yet) who just love to get together and support each other.

WHEN?

Whenever we want . . . . This is another thing I love about the group.  We don't try to meet every month.  We are realistic in the thought of we can't meet every month.  When someone has an idea of a project, they set the theme and date and we meet.  Whoever can be there comes.   It is great!

WHERE?

Mainly we have been doing it in different homes.  I have heard of groups who get together at church buildings or community buildings, but we like to meet in the homes of our group members. I think this also helps us get to know each other better.

WHAT?

Most of our parties have been centered around the seasons or holidays during that time.  In October, we each brought a pumpkin and decorated it according to something we found on Pinterest.  In December, we had an ornament swap.  In January, we made Valentine boxes.  In March, we made Pysansky eggs. In July we had a wedding/baby shower.  We are planning an upscale party for August.  It really depends on what you want to create.

HOW?

This is the biggest thing people want to know and, to be honest, you have to get the feel for your group.    Almost every group I have heard of does have each person bring a recipe from Pinterest to the party for the food option.  Here are some different ways of going about them:

1.  Have a project in mind that everyone will do.  The hostess can supply all the supplies needed herself or set a price that everyone will pay to do the project.  Everyone comes and does the project together.

2.  Have a theme in mind, like our Valentine's boxes or Ornament Swap, and everyone creates something at home.  They bring their creation to the party to show/share.  While there you can also create another project - like the two parties mentioned above.

3.  Have a theme where everyone brings a project already completed to the party.  Share what you have done and just fellowship.

All of these parties are ways to "hold you accountable" for doing all those things you have pinned.  Our group has done each of these kind of parties.

I hope this helps and I hope you are able to get together with some of your closest Pinterest friends to have a great time!!!!

West TN Sliders Season Ending Tournament

We enjoyed our last weekend tournament for the summer this weekend.
The boys have come so far and did a great job!
We played 3 games on Saturday and Carter pitched in two of them.
BE. STILL. MY. HEART.
I actually did better in the game he STARTED than the one where he came in as a reliever!
Go figure!
Here are just a few shots from the weekend. . .

Like I said earlier, this was a difficult decision to move to travel ball, but I really feel we made the best decision for Carter (and for us).  We really enjoyed not having to be at games during the week and we loved our Slider family.  Carter grew so much as a baseball player and, if it possible, his love for the game grew as well.  So, for now . . . we are taking 2 weeks off and then we will get back at it for the fall.  As always . . . .

Go SLIDERS!!!!!

Lucy Comes to Henderson

While we hated the reason, we loved having Lucy in Henderson for 5 days!!!
She got all kinds of attention from EVERYONE!!

Lots of love for our sweet Lucy!!!
Get better soon, Walker!!!
We love you both!
