To the Begging Place

I have tossed and turned about whether to post this or not, but have decided to do so

not to receive sympathy or empathy

not to receive pity

not to be a downer

but so all of you can go to the Begging Place for my family.

What is the Begging Place? It is the place where we go to our Heavenly Father and pray with everything we have for a specific reason.

Why do I need you to go to the Begging Place? Damon has lost his job. FHU was forced to cut 20 or so jobs last week starting immediately and his was one of the ones cut. He is getting a severance package for the next few months . . . We have Christmas done . . . We know God is going to take care of us. He always has and He always will. He has great plans for us:

plans to prosper (us) and not harm (us), plans to give (us) a hope and a future

Jeremiah 29:11

Why am I just now telling you this (it happened on Tuesday)? Because resumes are done and leads have been given to us and tomorrow starts the fight for a job. We are praying that a job comes quickly and is one that fits into God's plan for us. We have been praying that the right job does come for Damon. Of course, we have plans and wants but we ultimately have to resign to what God's will for us is. Please pray for the following:

the others who are in the same position we are

a job is found quickly

we remember God's will in all of this

the college students we have been working with (they are devastated)

God will be glorified in all of this and that

His will will be done.

Thank you, up front, for your prayers. My devotional to the college girls about fearing the future is really coming into play now - isn't it great how God provides! We will keep you posted on all that develops over the next few days.

I know and have complete confidence that the God we serve will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19) Stay faithful to confess His Word. He has a marvellous plan. I am praying for you all. Love you!

Becky, this is the beginning of something more wonderful. I know that God will lead you and Damon as to the next step. I am reminded of the what the psalmist said "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." Psalm 37:25
We are praying for you and your family and trusting God to show Himself strong. Love you.

Oh, Becky, I have fallen behind in my blogging recently and missed this post. I'm so sorry to hear about this loss -- both for your family and for the FHU family. You have been such a wonderful influence on those kids, and I pray that God opens doors to Damon that will allow you to serve Him even more.

Becky - Wow... I've missed a lot! I am so sorry about this - and will join your family in praying for your husband's job, and for the college students that it will also affect. You are so right about God being in control of the future. It makes me think of Psalm 46:10 - "Be still (slacken up and draw close) and know that I am God. I will be exalted..."

Praying and watching with you for all God is doing...
Jennifer

Here from SITS...
I was so drawn to this post because I feel like we are in similar situations.
My husband was laid off in November, and while he is not completely out of work, because he is on-call, it has been a rough few weeks for us...
Hang in there, and hopefully 2009 will bring good things for both our families.

I'm so glad you put this in here, because as I was reading the other day I had the feeling I had missed something, but never got back quite far enough to find it. Thanks for being real, and also humble enough to ask for prayer. No one is above the need.
